SERVICES FOR YOUR 504

Pininfarina designed a beautiful and timeless car with the 504 Cabrio (and Coupé) - it's basically perfect, fitted in with the times for a very long time (from 1969 to 1983!) and doesn't really need any more! For this reason, I particularly enjoy original or unadulterated vehicles and also keep an eye out for cars in this condition.

Of course I can customise any convertible or coupé according to your wishes and requirements. I am happy to get involved here!

TECHNOLOGY OF THE 504CC

Solid high-volume technology, sufficient power - packaged in a beautiful and timeless dress. In my opinion, this summarises the concept of the 504cc. So good that the 504 saloons still have the „African image“ ...

Nevertheless, there are a few challenges:

The Kugelfischer injection system, which not many people dare to approach any more.
Various grease nipples that must not be forgotten during maintenance!
Contact-controlled ignition with 4-cylinder
An "interesting" electrical system, especially under the dashboard
Electric windows with cable pulls that require experience, sensitivity and logic
Very high susceptibility to rust
With the necessary classic car mechanic knowledge and skills and the right tools, anything is possible! I am happy to be your contact person!

SELECTED SPARE PARTS

The 504cc was built over a period of around 14 years. In addition to the externally recognisable changes and further developments, there have been various optimisations under the bodywork. As a result, not every part fits every vehicle and access to replacement catalogues and an understanding of the special Peugeot logic is necessary in order to identify the correct spare part numbers.

I have access to NOS parts (New Old Stock), know various reproductions and their sources, have researched some suitable alternative parts and have also initiated my own developments, e.g. our soft top tarpaulin for the convertible.

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE PERSENNING

The original soft top tarpaulin is basically an „imposition“:

The fastening hooks will break or tear out sooner or later.
Fastening with the hooks on the chrome moulding is hard on the fingernails.
Retrofitted stainless steel press studs on the chrome trim and tarpaulin spoil the appearance of the car.
The artificial leather material shrinks with age and becomes unsightly. It stretches over the soft top frame and tears.

Together with a saddler friend of mine, I have produced a tarpaulin that is based on the original in terms of workmanship and material. Nevertheless, we have incorporated our experience: 586457

More durable, reinforced strip for the fastening hooks
Laminated on the inside to achieve an improved appearance (fewer pressure points).
A material, either imitation leather or leather, which is based on the original in terms of structure and colour.
Delivery can be made with or without (surcharge) fixing hooks.

The interior

The artificial leather on the seats and bench (especially in the convertible) is sometimes over 50 years old and, if it is still original, is generally very susceptible to tearing when used. In addition, the seat and backrest cores are soft and it no longer feels „so nice on the bum“. In my experience, once an interior has been replaced, the colours and materials often do not match the year of manufacture of the vehicle or each other (door panels and rear panels).

I have gained experience myself with the processing of prefabricated seat covers from the Internet:  Fit okay - feel so "well", kind of cheap ... As a result, a saddler friend and I have developed leather upholstery that is close to the original and incorporates all our experience for a „great fit“:

High-quality leather (German supplier) in a beautiful structure, matching colour (desired colours are also possible!) and design based on the original in each case
Matching leather covering of all side panelling including add-on parts, like the original
As far as the refurbishment is concerned, we work hand in hand: mechanical overhaul of the seats by me, upholstery work by him. The result is a ready-to-install seat or seat bench/backrest.
The following will also be replaced as part of this work: tension belts, seat and backrest cores (various options possible: soft, slightly firmer, slightly higher), door opener frames, ...

I can promise you a new sitting and driving experience!
